Entry #8: Undervalued Guys That I Would Trade For Right Now Because You Can Get Them On The Cheap

It would be nice to be able to trade for an emerging stud like Vincent Jackson or a proven commodity like Reggie Wayne at this point in the season.  However, you won't be able to trade for these guys because their perceived values are just too high right now.  You need to target players that fit the following criteria:

1)  Player must be underperforming.  This is a pretty easy task.  Tons of players underperforming.
2)  Player must have blow-up potential in the near future.  TO is underperforming but he is not going to blow-up in that putrid offense with a horrible qb.
3)  Player's perceived value is low.  Although Drew Brees stunk it up the last 2 wks, their owners still consider them the top qb in fantasy so you won't be able to trade for him at this point.

Here are the guys that fit the criteria above.  You can probably get these players for less than they are actually worth.

  1. Randy Moss: I think he is going to be the #1 fantasy receiver from this point forward.  Trade Ochocinco and an RB for him.
  2. Tom Brady:  Not sure if he fits criteria #3 but I would rather have him than Brees going forward.  His schedule gets pretty soft.
  3. Antonio Gates:  This would have looked a lot better if I wrote this a week ago.... I think Dallas Clark and Gates will finish 1-2.
  4. Reggie Bush:  His value has clearly taken a hit.  He is still getting red zone touches and you can get him cheaply.
  5. Anquan Boldin:  Top 5 stud if he stays healthy.  Better get him before he goes off.
  6. Darren Sproles:  There is a 65% chance of LT getting hurt, making Sproles a stud.  If you have depth at WR, maybe swing a deal.

  1. you have a buy low list without LT on it?!?
    1) he's been a complete bust so far
    2) LT owners have probably already made moves to try and sure up the RB2 spot and are close to giving up on him
    3) if they haven't made moves they're probably itching to do so
    4) he seems fixed on getting healthy and playing at 100%
    5) his schedule gets easier

that and sproles doesn't do the same things LT does ie running well inside. so even if LT gets hurt and misses the hole year they would have to air it out more... result: not as much upside for sproles with LT out then LT has if he stays healthy.

  2. LT is horrible. He just isn't a good RB anymore. I put him in the same category as TO. He loses 3rd downs to Sproles already and is likely to get hurt again. I'd rather have Sproles than LT right now.

  3. completely disagree w/ r. bush - he will remain a role player throughout the season. he's not the go to goal-line back

  4. I'm trying to work sproles trades like crazy, but no one's buying. I'm offering coffee + sproles for like 2nd tier receivers, and no one buying.

  6. Nerdz: I am in all PPR leagues so bush gets a lot of value.

Bobby: I would only target players on offenses that will be good as the season progresses. Carolina's O stinks. TO stinks b/c of Buffalo.

  8. You're now on my blogroll..of 3 websites

I personally believe that LT is done.

Jennings would have been a good buy low candidate, but he broke out last week against the Vikings
